The 18C Villa of the Palermo Bed & Breakfast "La Piana dei Colli", sunk in the most luscious subtropical vegetation, is situated 15 minutes away from the centre of Palermo and 5 minutes distance from the beach of Mondello.
Sicily’s mild climate will allows guests to enjoy the superb garden during all year, indulging in breakfasts, readings or simply walking around its paths.
The owner who is an expert in gardening and botany, decided twenty years ago to transform the abandoned lemon’s garden next to the house into an extraordinary place where she has now gathered a wonderful collection of rare plants. This garden is visited every year by several Garden Clubs.
At breakfast you will sample the traditional Italian "prima colazione" served with fruit from the garden and home made jams. Fresh eggs will be served if you wish. The house interior has been elegantly refurnished and it still keeps the charm of the old palazzo.
Seaside is a few minutes far from the Villa, well-known Mondello beach, and the beautiful rocks of Capo Gallo add pleasure to your journey.
Coastal boat trips (with boatman) available at reasonable prices.
Two dogs, affectionate and playful live in the garden, sometimes at the sight of a cat can bark upsetting the calm that otherwise is sovereign.
IL GLICINE La Piana dei Colli B&B guest house offers two types of accommodation:
- ROOMS (SINGLE, DOUBLE AND TRIPLE)
- DELUXE APARTMENT SUITE (OPEN SPACE)
FREE WI-FI INTERNET ACCESS IS AVAILABLE IN ALL THE ROOMS.
All the Rooms are comfortable, spacious, and tastefully furnished with a bed, a sofa, a desk and a television. Each room is fully air conditioned and has its own private bathroom, either ensuite or on the landing just outside the room.
The ground floor room has French windows opening onto the garden, while all the other rooms are located on the first floor and overlook either the garden or the courtyard. Twin beds rather than a double bed will be provided on request.

The recently restructured Deluxe Apartment-Suite is an open space composed of two rooms and can sleep up to four people.
The apartment is furnished to the highest quality standards has two windows offering splendid views over the garden.
The living room is furnished with a sofa bed (which, when necessary, provides a comfortable double bed) and a small dining table, while the kitchenette in the corner of the room is fully equipped for the preparation of meals. The double bedroom, which in addition to the bed is also furnished with a large antique wardrobe, leads directly to a bathroom with shower. The bathroom is comfortable, spacious and tastefully furnished.
The apartment-suite is fully air-conditioned.

The town of Palermo will require a few days to visit its fascinating historical centre (one of the biggest in Europe) the many churches, the palazzos and the picturesque markets.Day-trips from Palermo can be arranged to visit Monreale, Segesta, Bagheria, Cefalù, Trapani, Erice, Agrigento, San Vito Lo Capo.
The airport of Palermo "Punta Raisi - Falcone Borsellino" is 20 km away.
Guests staying in the B&B must have their own means of transport as the area is not served by public transportation services.

How to get there
From Punta Raisi (Falcone - Borsellino) Airport, looking at the above map, take the motorway (point A) to Palermo and then, 4Km after Capaci exit, take the "Tommaso Natale - Mondello" exit (point B). Straight on following the road to Mondello and passing through two round-about (points C and D). Once arrived at the third to Via Castelforte (point E), direction Pallavicino. After only 50 metres, take right at number 98/a (point F) and keeping left you'll reach the main gate of the old villa / castle. Please ring on the interphone name "PUCCI - ZANCA".
From East Sicily (Catania - Palermo or Messina-Palermo motorway): at the end of the motorway go straight on following the ring and get out ONLY AFTER NEARLY 20 KM, WHEN YOU'LL FIND A BIG BLUE PANEL (big like a door!) INDICATING THE EXIT "MONDELLO-SFERRACAVALLO". Do not come out at the previous exits with small panels! Go straight on passing through 2 roundabouts (points C and D on the map) and then follow the previous description ("From Punta Raisi Airport).
From Palermo Harbour: out of the harbour turn right and straight on (Via F. Crispi and Via Montepellegrino) till the base of Monte Pellegrino. Turn left and take the first on your right (direction Mondello) leading you in the park La Favorita. Once out of the park turn left at the second traffic light, that is Viale Venere. Go on till you enter in a roundabout, then take right (direction Pallavicino) in via Castelforte. Just after FEW METRES is the open gate 98a. Go on keeping left at a fork and at the end of the road you'll face the big gate of the villa. Please ring on the interphone name "PUCCI-ZANCA".

Prices are in Euro, apply to ONE PERSON and ONE NIGHT and include breakfast.
10% discount available for holidays of over 4 nights.
A minimum stay of 2 nights is required (3 nights in July and August).
An advance of 20% should be paid at the reservation time. The balance should be paid at the arriving.

I've just returned from Piana dei Colli, where I had one of the best experience's of my life! The room was just incredible, very peaceful and clean, overlooking this amazing tropical garden and beautiful Palermo's mountains, 5 mins from the wonderful Mondello's beach as well.
The building its very old and extremely well mantained, with an incredible taste for interiors. My room was just a dream, very big, warm and just perfect! I loved every minute of it, from the great breakfast to the lovely chats with Gabriella. I'm so looking forward to go back and spend a few more days in this paradise. I've highly reccomend it, a lifetime experience.
A special thank you goes to Gabriella that made this such an amazing place, full of love and serenity, so happy I've met such a fantastic soul.

Gabriella is a gracious host and seems to genuinely enjoy meeting people the world over. Her English (and the French we noticed her speaking with two other guests) is fluent and she prepared breakfast for us every morning. Her recommendations for day trips were always dependable (too bad we weren't paying attention when she told us about the beach below the Tonnara di Scopello), her gardens are an oasis (if you ask she'll tell you what all the different flowers are and give you freeze dried shrimp to feed the little resident turtle) and her B&B has a quiet, homey feel.
Tips: The downstairs room has a private terrace enclosed by vines and its own bathroom.

Beautiful property--very relaxing. I would recommend this property to my friends going to Sicily. Gabriella was lovely. We enjoyed her very much. She was very helpful and clearly enjoys providing excellent service to guests.

The owner was absolutely charming and offered us invaluable advice concerning restaurants and places to see in Palermo (she speaks good French but her English may not be so fluent). The house was very quiet and full of character and the garden was a tropical paradise. However the property was not very easy to find and you did need a car!

We were extremely happy with the accomodation. It was easy to find from the directions given, secure parking, beautiful surroundings with a welcoming, helpful and english speaking host. Lovely clean spacious bedroom and bathroom, comfortable bed and a light continental breakfast. The host was extremely friendly and offered fantastic advice on places to visit. The closest beach at Mondello is also the best for miles. Sandy and clean. I would totally recommend this B&B and location. Just be prepared for totally manic italian driving! Enjoy!

Il Glicine is absolutely wonderful. The garden is a slice of heaven, and the apartment full of atmosphere and lovely things, but not at all intimidating. Signora Pucci is charming and helpful, and speaks good English. She directed us to a superb restaurant. Staying at Il Glicine is a great holiday in itself. In fact it's so divine you don't really want to go out and deal with Palermo traffic. I foolishly forgot to take the excellent joining instructions and had a hard time finding the correct place, as there is no sign.

The owner of the property, Gabriella, was warm and gracious. She spoke English which was a big help to us. She offered advice on places to go and things to see in the area. She had an incredible garden and was very knowledgeable about the plants. The property was difficult to find but once there it was a warm and inviting oasis.
